Broncos Align with National Consensus on Limited Elite Talent in 2025 NFL Dra
- As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has acknowledged the prevailing sentiment that this year’s draft class lacks a deep pool of elite first-round talent. Payton noted that the Broncos’ evaluations align with the national perception, indicating a consensus on the limited number of top-tier prospects available.
General Manager George Paton echoed this assessment, highlighting that the talent disparity between picks 10 through 20 is minimal. This evaluation suggests a strategic advantage in maintaining their current draft position rather than trading up, as the value among mid-first-round selections remains relatively consistent.
In the previous year’s draft, the Broncos demonstrated their ability to identify and select players who exceeded their draft positions. They acquired several mid-round picks, such as OLB Jonah Elliss and WR Troy Franklin, whom they had graded higher than where they were ultimately selected. This approach underscores the team’s focus on maximizing value throughout the draft.
As the Broncos prepare for the upcoming draft, their strategy appears to be centered on capitalizing on the depth of the class, seeking value in the mid to late rounds, and avoiding overreaching for top-tier talent that may not be present in abundance this year.
