Travis Perry Leaves Kentucky Wildcats, Enters Transfer Portal
Travis Perry, a freshman guard for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, has entered the NCAA transfer portal after one season with the team. The 6-foot-2 guard from Lyon County, Kentucky, was a standout in high school, becoming the state’s all-time leading scorer with 5,481 points and leading Lyon County to its first state championship. During his freshman year at Kentucky, Perry averaged 2.7 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 9.8 minutes per game across 31 appearances, including four starts. His playing time increased due to a series of injuries on Kentucky’s roster. Despite indicating an intention to return following Kentucky’s season-ending loss to Tennessee, Perry’s transfer comes as a surprise. (A Sea Of Blue)
Perry’s departure leaves Kentucky with another roster spot to fill for the 2025–26 season. Head coach Mark Pope is actively seeking to fill the final scholarship spot on the team’s roster. Currently, if players Jaland Lowe and Otega Oweh withdraw their names from the NBA Draft as expected, the Wildcats will have 12 scholarship players. (A Sea Of Blue, A Sea Of Blue)
As Perry explores his options, he is expected to receive interest from several programs, including Vanderbilt University, which has recently emerged as a strong contender for his commitment. Robbie Weinstein from Vandy247 has predicted that Perry will join Vanderbilt to play under head coach Mark Byington. Perry recently visited the University of Maryland, now coached by Buzz Williams, and is also being considered by the Terrapins. (A Sea Of Blue)
Perry’s departure marks the end of his brief tenure with the Wildcats, but his journey in college basketball is far from over. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see where he lands next.
