BREAKING NEWS: Russell Wilson Found Murdered in Denver Home — Homicide Investigation Underway
Denver, CO – May 7, 2025
Tragedy has struck the NFL community as Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was found murdered in his Denver home late Monday night. The shocking news has sent waves of grief and disbelief through the city and the sports world.
According to the Denver Police Department, officers responded to a distress call around 11:45 PM from Wilson’s Cherry Creek neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered Wilson with multiple stab wounds inside his home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This was not a random act,” said Police Chief Carla Morales during a press conference early Tuesday. “Initial evidence points to a targeted attack, and our homicide unit is actively investigating all leads. We will not rest until the person responsible is brought to justice.”
No suspects have been named, and police are urging the public to come forward with any information. Surveillance footage and witness accounts are currently being reviewed.
Wilson, 36, was a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, philanthropist, and inspirational figure on and off the field. Since joining the Broncos in 2022, he had become a cornerstone of the franchise’s rebuilding efforts and a respected leader in the Denver community.
The Broncos released a statement this morning: “We are heartbroken by the senseless loss of Russell Wilson. He was a champion in every sense — on the field, in the locker room, and in life. Our thoughts are with Ciara, their children, and the entire Wilson family.”
Fans have already begun gathering outside Empower Field at Mile High, where a growing memorial of flowers, jerseys, and candles is forming in his honor.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called Wilson’s death “a heartbreaking and unfathomable tragedy,” offering support to the Broncos and the Wilson family during this time of mourning.
Russell Wilson is survived by his wife, singer Ciara, and their three children. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
More updates to follow as the investigation continues.
