BREAKING NEWS: Tragedy in Seattle — Seahawks Star QB Darius “Jet” Johnson Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Seattle, WA — The Seattle Seahawks community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of franchise quarterback Darius “Jet” Johnson, who died late Wednesday night in a motorcycle accident. He was just 27 years old.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. along Alki Avenue. Johnson was reportedly riding alone when he lost control of his bike and struck a guardrail. Emergency crews arrived on the scene within minutes, but despite their efforts, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene due to catastrophic injuries.

Known across the league for his blazing speed, pinpoint accuracy, and infectious leadership, Johnson had recently led the Seahawks to a playoff resurgence, earning his first Pro Bowl appearance and solidifying his place as the face of the franchise. His on-field brilliance earned him the nickname “Jet,” but it was his humility and relentless work ethic that won over fans and teammates alike.

“This is a devastating loss for our organization, for the city, and for everyone who had the privilege of knowing Darius,” Seahawks head coach Marcus Langston said in a statement Thursday morning. “He was a phenomenal player, a natural leader, and a truly special human being. We are shattered.”

The NFL also released a statement, calling Johnson “one of the league’s brightest young stars, taken far too soon.”

Fans gathered outside Lumen Field overnight, lighting candles and leaving jerseys, notes, and flowers in a growing memorial. Across social media, tributes from teammates, opponents, and fans poured in, honoring a player whose career — and life — were filled with promise.

Johnson is survived by his mother, two younger siblings, and a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of Seahawks fans.

The team says further details, including memorial plans, will be shared in the coming days.
