BREAKING NEWS: Tragedy Strikes Packers — Isaiah Thompson Killed in Overnight Crash
Green Bay, WI – May 8, 2025
The Green Bay Packers and the NFL community are reeling after the sudden and tragic death of linebacker Isaiah Thompson, who was killed in a car accident late Wednesday night.
Authorities confirm the 28-year-old was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 43 just outside Green Bay around 11:45 PM. His car reportedly struck a guardrail and overturned. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, though foul play is not suspected.
Thompson had been a core member of the Packers since being drafted in 2019, admired as much for his leadership and community outreach as for his performance on the field.
“This is a devastating loss,” said Packers President Mark Murphy. “Isaiah was the soul of our team — a fierce competitor, a compassionate teammate, and a role model in every sense.”
Fans and fellow players have flooded social media with tributes, many using the hashtag #RememberIsaiah to share memories and condolences. A candlelight vigil is planned outside Lambeau Field tonight, and the team has announced it will host a public memorial service in the coming days.
Thompson is survived by his family, teammates, and a city that embraced him as one of their own.
More updates will follow as the investigation continues.
