
BREAKING NEWS: Nebraska Football Coach Matt Rhule in Tragic Highway Collision Involving Family
Lincoln, NE —
In a heartbreaking incident late Monday night, Nebraska Cornhuskers head football coach Matt Rhule and his family were involved in a serious vehicle accident on Interstate 80 just outside Lincoln.
Authorities report that the family SUV lost control during a heavy downpour and collided with an oncoming freight truck. Emergency services responded quickly, but tragically, Rhule’s wife and two children were pronounced dead at the scene. Coach Rhule was critically injured and was transported by helicopter to Nebraska Medical Center, where he is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
The University of Nebraska issued a statement early Tuesday morning:
“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with Coach Rhule and his loved ones. The entire Husker community stands with him during this unimaginable time.”
All football-related activities have been suspended indefinitely, and university officials have arranged counseling services for students and athletes.
