The Big Blue Nation is welcoming a rising talent with newfound ties to Kentucky — and two of the program’s most recognizable alumni played a role in bringing him to Lexington.
Former Kentucky Wildcats stars Aaron and Andrew Harrison, who played under John Calipari from 2013 to 2015, played a behind-the-scenes role in helping Pittsburgh Panthers transfer Jaland Lowe commit to Kentucky.
Their connection goes back years, rooted in Houston’s AAU scene and a shared basketball lineage.
“I’ve been knowing Jaland since he was literally a baby — from a distance, kind of, since he’s a lot younger than me,” Aaron Harrison told Jack Pilgrim of KSR. “He comes from a great basketball family, his dad is really into basketball, so it’s gonna be amazing. I’m happy that he gets to even experience that, because a lot of people — everybody that plays basketball, they would want to experience playing at Kentucky and getting that type of support.”
Aaron added he’ll be there for Lowe as a mentor: “I’m happy for him and proud of him. I’ll give him any advice that he ever needs, for sure.”
Lowe joins Mark Pope’s new-look Wildcats with high expectations — and with some meaningful backing from two players who know exactly what it takes to succeed in Lexington.
