BREAKING TRAGEDY: Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Dies at 67

Kansas City, MO – May 18, 2025 — In a devastating development for the football world, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has died at the age of 67. The news was confirmed just minutes ago by team officials in a brief and emotional statement.

Reid, who led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl titles and established one of the most dominant dynasties in NFL history, passed away unexpectedly earlier today. The cause of death has not yet been officially released, though sources close to the organization say it was sudden and unrelated to any known illness.

“Coach Reid was more than a coach — he was a mentor, a leader, and a cornerstone of the Kansas City community,” said Chiefs owner Clark Hunt. “This is a heartbreaking loss for all of us who knew and loved him.”

Reid, born on March 19, 1958, began his NFL head coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles before taking the reins in Kansas City in 2013. Over the course of his 26-year head coaching career, he amassed 284 total wins and a legacy that will stand among the greats.

Patrick Mahomes, visibly shaken during a brief statement to the media, called Reid “a father figure” and “the reason I became the player I am.”

Tributes from around the league have poured in as players, coaches, and fans mourn the loss of a legendary figure whose influence extended far beyond the field.

The Chiefs are expected to hold a memorial ceremony later this week. Flags at Arrowhead Stadium have been lowered to half-staff in

Reid’s honor.
