Shock: Darcy Moore says he’s leaving Collingwood football because of…

Darcy Moore and Jordan De Goey, the two first-round picks from the previous season, have been locked away by Collingwood until the conclusion of the 2018 campaign. Moore and De Goey’s contracts were extended by the Magpies yesterday night, and Jackson Ramsay, a promising defender, signed a new contract with the team through the end of 2017.

The 25-man roster for Sunday’s matchup against Richmond includes De Goey, the No. 5 choice in the previous year’s national draft, who has demonstrated strong VFL play since his Round 1 debut.

“It is incredibly exciting for the team because a number of the senior players, like Jamie Elliott and Tom Langdon, have also joined on,” De Goey, 19, stated. “I just think the club is headed in the right path, and I am excited to attempt to win premierships while growing up with some of these young guys.”

Moore, who was selected as a father-son at pick nine, is recuperating nicely from a hamstring injury and has not yet participated in a senior game. In the next weeks, he anticipates being available for selection in the VFL.

“I am not leaving,” declared 19-year-old Moore. Being offered an additional two years is a dream come true. It is so thrilling.

The 20-year-old Ramsay was firmly established in the back half until suffering a shin injury last week, but he hopes to play against Gold Coast the following week. “I am really happy with where I am right now and how we are doing as a team,” Ramsay remarked.
