Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton has included the University of Michigan in his top seven schools, highlighting the Wolverines as a serious contender in his recruitment. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound standout from James Monroe High School in Rochester, New York, is currently ranked as the No. 24 wide receiver and No. 166 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle by Rivals.
Hampton’s impressive performances at recent camps, including the Under Armour Next Camp in Miami, have drawn significant attention from college programs. He has several official visits planned for this summer, including trips to an ACC program in late May/early June, followed by three consecutive official visits to Big Ten schools in June.
The Wolverines are competing with other top programs such as Ohio State, Penn State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, and Toledo for Hampton’s commitment. Michigan’s strong recruiting efforts, led by wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, have positioned them as a serious contender.
As Hampton continues to evaluate his options, his upcoming visits will be crucial in shaping his decision. The Wolverines’ ability to showcase their program and build a strong relationship with the talented receiver could play a significant role in his recruitment.
