Collingwood Opens Two List Spots Ahead of 2025 AFL Mid-Season Draft

Collingwood has cleared two list spots ahead of the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Draft, following the long-term knee injuries to midfielder Reef McInnes and forward Harvey Harrison. These vacancies have enabled the Magpies to bolster their squad with two promising recruits.

With their first pick at No. 8, Collingwood selected 23-year-old midfielder Roan Steele from West Perth in the WAFL. Steele has been in outstanding form, averaging 21.1 disposals per game and kicking five goals in seven matches this season. Known for his exceptional running capacity, Steele is expected to add depth and versatility to the Magpies’ midfield.

At pick No. 15, the club opted for 19-year-old key forward Noah Howes from South Adelaide in the SANFL. Howes has showcased his goal-scoring prowess by kicking three goals in both his SANFL debut and the Under-18 Grand Final. Standing at 196cm, he brings a strong aerial presence to Collingwood’s forward line.

National Recruiting Manager Shane O’Bree expressed confidence in both players’ potential to make an immediate impact. He highlighted Steele’s impressive GPS data and adaptability, while noting Howes’ work ethic and growth potential within the club’s full-time program.

The Mid-Season Draft, held on May 28, allows clubs to address list deficiencies due to injuries or other circumstances. Collingwood’s strategic selections aim to strengthen their squad as they continue their pursuit of success in the 2025 AFL season.
