Disney Fans Among First to Experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Disney fans had the unique opportunity to be among the first to experience the newly reimagined Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, marking a significant milestone in the park’s history. The attraction, which opened on June 28, 2024, replaced the long-standing Splash Mountain and is inspired by Disney’s 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog.

In a special ceremony, Disney invited the family of Leah Chase, the New Orleans culinary legend who inspired Princess Tiana, to be the first guests to ride the attraction. The event was held at Dooky Chase’s Restaurant, where Disney executives surprised the Chase family with the honor. Tracie Griffin, granddaughter of Leah Chase, expressed her emotions, stating, “I’m glad I got wet, because it wiped my tears away.” She described the ride as “a love letter, not just to the Chase family, but to the city of New Orleans” .

The ride features state-of-the-art audio-animatronics and a storyline that follows Princess Tiana and her friends as they embark on a journey through the bayou to find musicians for a Mardi Gras celebration. Guests encounter beloved characters like Tiana, Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, and Louis the alligator, with voice performances by the original cast members. The attraction also showcases a new song, “Special Spice,” written by New Orleans native PJ Morton and performed by Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana .

For those eager to experience the ride, Disney offered exclusive previews for D23 Gold Members and annual passholders. These guests had the chance to join virtual queues and enjoy the attraction before its official opening .

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is now open to all guests at Magic Kingdom, offering a vibrant and culturally rich experience that celebrates New Orleans’ heritage and Disney’s first Black princess.
