Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary in spectacular fashion, and Magic Key holders are getting exclusive access to brand-new photo opportunities – including a first look at a striking Pirates of the Caribbean-themed backdrop that’s already turning heads.
Unveiled today, the new Pirates photo op pays homage to the beloved attraction that has thrilled guests since its debut in 1967. The scene features immersive elements like barrels of gold, eerie lantern light, and even a familiar skeleton pirate, creating the perfect setting for swashbuckling selfies. It’s located near the Rivers of America in New Orleans Square and will be available exclusively to Magic Key holders for a limited time.
But the Pirates scene isn’t the only photo op drawing attention. To honor Disneyland’s 70th birthday, the resort has rolled out a series of nostalgic and celebratory backdrops scattered throughout the park, each themed to iconic attractions and moments from the park’s seven-decade legacy. These include:
A Sleeping Beauty Castle 1955 throwback display featuring retro signage and classic park props.
A Matterhorn Bobsleds alpine backdrop, complete with a photo station where guests can pose with a vintage-style bobsled.
A whimsical Mad Tea Party scene brimming with oversized teacups and pastel lighting perfect for twilight photos.
Magic Key holders can access these photo ops from now through the end of the summer celebration, with exclusive hours and perks including digital downloads via the Disneyland app.
Disney encourages fans to visit often, as new themed photo locations will continue to pop up throughout the 70th anniversary festivities. From nostalgic nods to beloved attractions to brand-new magic, it’s all part of Disneyland’s tribute to 70 years of wonder.
