Punta Cana to Host 40th FIVB World Congress in 2026
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic — June 10, 2025 — The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has officially announced that Punta Cana will host the 40th FIVB World Congress in 2026, marking a significant moment for the Caribbean nation and the global volleyball community.
The prestigious biennial gathering, which brings together representatives from all 222 national federations, is scheduled to take place in the renowned beach resort destination from May 20–22, 2026. It will be the first time the Dominican Republic hosts the World Congress, highlighting the country’s growing influence in international volleyball and sports diplomacy.
FIVB President Dr. Ary Graça praised Punta Cana as an ideal location for the Congress, citing its world-class hospitality, modern infrastructure, and growing commitment to the sport. “We are delighted to bring the 40th FIVB World Congress to Punta Cana. The Dominican Republic has long been a rising star in volleyball, especially in the women’s game, and this Congress will further solidify its place on the global stage,” said Dr. Graça.
The event will cover strategic planning for the sport’s development, governance updates, and elections for key FIVB positions. It will also serve as a networking hub for volleyball leaders, athletes, and stakeholders from around the globe.
Dominican Volleyball Federation President Lic. Alexis García expressed pride in the selection, stating, “Hosting this Congress is not only an honor but also an opportunity to showcase our country’s passion for volleyball and readiness to contribute to the sport’s global future.”
