📰 “Tragedy at North Dakota Speedway: NASCAR Crash Leaves 2 Dead, 4 Injured Including Officials”
Bismarck, ND — June 11, 2025
A devastating crash at the Prairie Hills Raceway in North Dakota has left two people dead and four others injured, including race officials, after a fiery collision during a regional NASCAR event on Sunday.
According to event organizers, the accident occurred on Lap 43 when driver Matt Connelly’s No. 48 car lost control exiting Turn 3, striking the barrier at high speed and igniting a violent fire. Debris from the impact scattered into the pit lane, where several crew members and race marshals were stationed.
Paramedics and emergency response teams rushed to the scene within moments, but two individuals — identified as a pit crew technician and a race marshal — were pronounced dead on arrival. Four others, including Connelly, sustained serious injuries and were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
Officials have not released the names of the deceased pending family notification.
“This is a heartbreaking day for the racing community,” said NASCAR regional director Elaine Torres. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Safety reviews are already underway.”
The remainder of the race weekend has been canceled out of respect for those affected.
