
Texas Softball Star Hannah Wells Crowned Gatorade National Player of the Year
OMFG WHAT A SEASON – Coahoma High School senior Hannah Wells, a 6‑foot right-handed pitcher and power-hitter from Texas, has officially been named the 2024–25 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year, becoming only the sixth Texan ever to claim this honor .
🏆 Historic Season Highlights
Pitching Domination: Posted a 22–1 record, a minuscule 0.44 ERA, and struck out 258 batters in 127⅔ innings—recording 15 shutouts, including a no-hitter and two perfect games .
Power at the Plate: Batting .602 with a state single-season record of 31 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a staggering 2.287 OPS; career total of 86 home runs, another Texas high school record .
State Titles: Led Coahoma to a third consecutive UIL 3A‑DII state championship, closing the season at 35–1, and capped it off by earning state finals MVP .
🎓 Beyond Athletics
Committed to play for the University of Texas Longhorns next fall . Her addition comes right after Texas softball secured its first-ever NCAA championship, and coach Mike White plans to employ her both on the mound and in the batter’s box .
Academics & Community: Salutatorian, National Honor Society member, maintained A’s in school, and actively supported community programs like food banks and Thanksgiving meal drives .
