In a surprising turn of events, Texas Tech cornerback Jalon Peoples has announced his decision to transfer to North Dakota State University (NDSU), marking another significant loss for the Red Raiders’ secondary.
Peoples, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back from Cedar Hill, Texas, has spent the past three seasons with Texas Tech. After redshirting in 2022, he appeared in three games in 2023 and started the 2024 season opener against Abilene Christian. Over his career, he recorded eight tackles across six games. Despite his limited on-field time, Peoples’ departure adds to the growing list of transfers from the Texas Tech defense.
The Red Raiders have been active in the transfer portal, bringing in several experienced defensive backs, including Brice Pollock from Mississippi State, Dontae Balfour from Charlotte, and Cole Wisniewski from North Dakota State. These additions have led to increased competition for playing time, which may have influenced Peoples’ decision to seek a fresh start at NDSU.
Peoples expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “I felt the Bison were the best fit for me because if you know about NDSU, they are a very well-oriented program.
