Florida Gators offensive lineman Devon Manuel was arrested early Friday morning on multiple charges, including misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) and a second-degree felony charge of possession of a concealed weapon.
Manuel, a redshirt senior, was pulled over shortly after midnight on SW 34th Street for driving approximately 60 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. According to the arrest report, officers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Manuel reportedly admitted to using a THC vape cartridge prior to driving and stated he did not possess a medical marijuana card.
During the stop, officers asked Manuel to perform standardized field sobriety exercises. The report indicates Manuel performed poorly, though he informed officers he had an injured meniscus in his right knee, which he said impacted his ability to balance. A breath sample provided by Manuel registered 0.000.
A search of Manuel’s vehicle reportedly uncovered a Glock 20 pistol, loaded with 14 rounds but not chambered, tucked between the front driver’s seat and the center console. Officers also found a black vape with “THC” on the front passenger floorboard. A urine sample was collected from Manuel for further testing.
The 22-year-old was booked into the Alachua County Jail and later released on bond.
A spokesperson for the University of Florida released a statement regarding the incident, saying, “We are aware of the situation with Devon Manuel. We will gather all the facts and monitor the situation.”
Manuel, who transferred to Florida from Arkansas, appeared in three games as a reserve tackle in 2024, logging 58 snaps. He was expected to compete for a larger role on the offensive line in the upcoming season.
