JUST IN: Notre Dame Manager and Family Tragically Killed in Car Crash on South Bend Avenue

SOUTH BEND, IN – A tragic car accident claimed the lives of a University of Notre Dame manager and their family earlier today. The crash occurred at approximately 11:21 AM on South Bend Avenue near the intersection with Angela Boulevard — a high-traffic area close to the university campus.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene within minutes, but all members of the family were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their names pending notification of extended family.

According to initial reports, the family’s vehicle was struck by another car traveling at high speed. The collision caused significant damage and prompted a full investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.

The driver of the second vehicle remained on-site and is cooperating with authorities. Toxicology tests are being conducted, and investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, including whether speed, impairment, or distracted driving were factors.

The University of Notre Dame released a brief statement expressing profound sorrow over the loss:

> “Our hearts are broken. We mourn the loss of a cherished member of our university family and extend our deepest prayers and condolences to all affected.”

A campus prayer service is being planned for this evening, and grief counseling services have been made available for students and staff.

Further updates will follow as more details become available.
