
Fatal Crash on Burnt Store Road in Punta Gorda Leaves One Dead, Another HHospitalize
On the afternoon of July 20, 2024, a tragic two-vehicle collision occurred on Burnt Store Road near Notre Dame Boulevard in Punta Gorda, Florida, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury.
Acording to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 1:38 p.m. when a vehicle traveling south on Burnt Store Road attempted a left turn onto Notre Dame Boulevard. A northbound sedan collided with the side of the turning vehicle. The impact caused the sedan to flip into a ditch, leading to serious injuries for its 41-year-old driver. The driver of the turning vehicle, a 70-year-old man, was ejected from his car and pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders closed the northbound lanes of Burnt Store Road for several hours to investigate the scene and clear debris. The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation, including analyzing the pre-crash speed and driving patterns involved.
