Panthers Edge Giants 20–17 in Overtime Thriller in Munich
In a gripping Week 10 matchup held at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, the Carolina Panthers secured a hard-fought 20–17 overtime victory over the New York Giants. This win marked the Panthers’ first back-to-back victories of the season, improving their record to 3–7, while the Giants fell to 2–8.
The game was a defensive battle, with both teams struggling to generate consistent offense. Carolina’s rookie quarterback Bryce Young completed 15 of 25 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, while New York’s Daniel Jones threw for 190 yards but was intercepted twice. The Panthers’ ground game proved to be the difference, with Chuba Hubbard rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.
The turning point came in overtime after the Giants won the coin toss. On the first play from scrimmage, rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. fumbled, and Panthers linebacker Josey Jewell recovered the ball at the Giants’ 23-yard line. Veteran defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson, who had been vocal about his desire to make a game-changing play, forced the fumble. Eddy Pineiro capitalized on the turnover, kicking a 36-yard field goal to seal the win for Carolina.
Despite the loss, the Giants showed resilience. They erased a 17–7 deficit in the fourth quarter, with Daniel Jones leading a 96-yard touchdown drive capped by a 2-yard rushing score. Graham Gano, returning from a hamstring injury, tied the game with a 42-yard field goal as time expired. However, the overtime fumble proved costly.
The Panthers’ victory was a testament to their defensive prowess and the impact of timely turnovers. With the win, they look to build momentum as they head into the latter part of the season. The Giants, still searching for consistency, will aim to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming games.
