On Friday, Bill Bedenbaugh strengthened Oklahoma’s offensive line.

Former North Texas offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu committed to the Sooners via the transfer portal, joining Michigan State offensive tackle Spencer Brown as the Sooners’ second addition along the line.

Nwaiwu, who previously committed to North Texas under current Oklahoma co-offensive coach Seth Littrell, was named a Second Team Freshman All-American by The Athletic in 2022 after shining on the offensive line’s interior.

The 6-foot-4, 316-pound product from Coppell High School in Coppell, TX, redshirted in Littrell’s North Texas program in 2021.

Despite being injured, the former walk-on started 12 games for UNT in 2022 and an additional eight games in 2023.

Oklahoma is in desperate need of offensive line help, since Walter Rouse and McKade Mettauer will lose their eligibility following the Alamo Bowl, and Tyler Guyton and Andrew Raym have already declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

After establishing himself as a crucial piece at left guard for the Sooners in his true freshman season, OU also lost Cayden Green via the transfer portal, where he finally signed to Missouri.

Because offensive tackle Jacob Sexton stepped over at right tackle replacing Guyton at the end of the season, the Sooners will return one starter from the unit that started the game against TCU in the regular season finale.

Nwaiwu is the sixth transfer from the transfer site to pledge to Oklahoma, joining Brown, tight end Bauer Sharp, wide receiver Deion Burks, running back Samuel Franklin, and defensive back Dez Malone.
